Since I was a little girl, basketball has always been a huge part of my life. I started playing when I was four years old and developed a love for the game at a very young age. Growing up, most of my spare time was spent in a gym or outside practicing on my goal at my house. My whole family was a "basketball family" and it was just a routine for everyone to play. Many times we would all play against each other until it was too dark to see.
Basketball did not just come around during the season; it was all year long. During the summer months I spent my time practicing and playing for a travel team. This is one of my favorite memories of playing basketball. I had the opportunity to travel all over the country playing in countless amounts of games and made lifelong friendships with many other girls. At the time, I thought I was missing out on things such as spending my summer relaxing going to the pool everyday with my friends, but I now realize I was making special memories that I will remember forever. Basketball has also been a door opener for many opportunities such as getting me a free education at Union University. The unforgettable memories continue to come such as playing for a national title two out of my first three years and building lifelong relationships with the people I call my teammates and best friends.
Although basketball may not be as important in my future, it will always be important to me. It has taught me so much about myself and life lessons that will continuously come in handy throughout my life. I am so thnakful for the opportunity God has given me to play basketball and all of the places it has brought me.
